In my opinion the best time to visit the Algarve is April–May and September–October. These months offer warm sunshine, fewer crowds, nice temperatures, and better prices than summer, making them ideal for most travelers.
That said, the “best” time really depends on what you want from your trip. Below is a clear breakdown by season, interests, and month. Let me tell you more about all the seasons in the Algarve and why!

My Favorite Months to Visit the Algarve
April
April is incredibly green and beautiful. The weather can be a little unpredictable, but most days are warm enough for t-shirts, outdoor activities, and even beach time.
Ocean is cold (refreshing rather than relaxing 😉)

May (my top pick)
In my opinion, May has the best weather of the year. It’s warm, sunny, and perfect for the beach — without summer crowds.

June
June is a fantastic early-summer month.
