About a 1,5 hour drive from Faro (Algarve) Airport you'll find the surfers town of Sagres. Sagres, also knows as 'the end of the world', is a small town on the southwest corner of Portugal and is known for is dramatic rocky cliff formations. There is so much to do here so I've written down my favorites for you. 👇

The obvious: surf
This town is like it's made for surfing. It has many options for beginners, intermediates and more advanced levels. There is almost always a wave to be found. Sagres is a great place for learning as there are so many surf schools for lessons or rentals and many beaches protected from bigger swells around. Want to explore more surf towns? I've written my favorite ones down for you already!

Have great coffee and try cute cafes!
What's better than a good almond cappuccino and pastel de nata after a big surf?
Sagres has so many amazing coffee bars it's hard to choose which one to try next. Here are a few of my faves! ☕
Picnic Sagres. The Danish pastries and sandwiches here are soooo good. They also have a great selection of craft beers and natural wines. I love this place! Check out their instagram at @picnicsagres.
The Laundry Lounge. With great coffee, fresh pastel de nata, croissants and smoothy bowls you can't go wrong. They also offer daily yoga classes on the roof with a beautiful view! Check them out @laundryloungesagres.
Cafe Goldig. All veggie goodness! Enjoy a bica (espresso) with a raw vegan brownie, amazing soups and falafel or smoothies at this cute little place. Check them out @cafe_goldig.
Three Little Birds. This is the perfect place to go for a tasty lunch or dinner after big salty day! Here you'll find refreshing colorful drinks, tasty soul food and a variety of veggie options. It has a nice vibe and garden to hide away from the sun and the wind. Check them out here @threelittlebirdssagres.

Explore the beautiful beaches
I can't even describe how many beautiful beaches you can find around Sagres. So hop in your car, start driving and explore beaches like Praia do Amado, Praia do Beliche, Praia da Arrifana and more! Definitely check out beaches on the south and west coast. They're significantly different and both equally as beautiful.
Visit cabo de São Vicente at sunset
The most southwestern point of Europe, Cabo de São Vicente, is about 6 kilometers from Sagres. The point is quite spectaculair and I recommend checking it out at sunset. When the sky colors turn blue and purple and you're on top of the cliffs at (as they call it) end of the world, its just a magical experience. The light house is also a little museum you can entre to learn about Portugals maritime history.
Go supping!
Sagres is absolutely amazing for supping as there is so much to see. The dramatic cliffs and the clear blue ocean make spectacular views. Just google any surf/sup school around you and they can take you on an amazing trip!

Hiking
Absolutely one of my favorite things to do in the Algarve is to go on a cliff hike. It just never get's old. There are some beautiful trails taking you along the enormous dramatic cliffs and the clear blue Atlantic. The west coast offers some beautiful unpaved trails with endless views across the ocean I've highlighted some of my favorite hikes in the Algarve for you already!

Explore Algarve towns
There are many cute and picturesque towns near Sagres that are worth visiting. Find the famous Azulejos (Portuguese tiles) in old towns and explore beautiful beach towns with crooked white washed houses and blossoming bougainvillea. Here are some of my recommendations of towns to visit that are within a one hour drive from Sagres. This is a great thing to do when you want to see what the Algarve is famous for!

Another amazing thing to do and great way to explore Sagres is horse riding! There are a few riding schools in and near Sagres that will take you on a tour. Go for a relaxing beach ride, explore the rural Algarve, orange groves, cork fields or explore the beautiful ocean up from the dramatic cliffs overlooking the clear blue Atlantic! Exploring the wild Algarve nature by horse is truly magical!

Yoga
Another great thing to do in Sagres to recover from all your other activities, is to take a yoga class. You'll find several studios here that offer in and outdoor classes and beach yoga! I also love taking a post surf afternoon class at the cute Laundry Lounge cafe and enjoy a nice coffee and smoothy after! They teach on the roof of the cafe with a nice view stretching over the entire town of Sagres and it's surroundings. Check out @yogasagres for classes and schedules.
